Visit The Holden Arboretum

Although this is located in Kirkland, Ohio, which is about 30 minutes from downtown Cleveland, this is a must-see in the fall, especially if you are somebody who loves getting outdoors and seeing the fall colors. Holden Arboretum is a massive forest spanning 3,500 square miles, making it one of the largest arboreta in the United States. Many Northeast Ohioans are unaware of this beautiful forest in our backyard! The park is kid and dog-friendly, and often times there are classes and various activities that are both fun for the whole family. If you are interested in getting a good look at some of the fall leaves, take part in the Murch Canopy Walk and the Kalberer Emergent Tower, two options that can give you a great view of the beautiful surrounding forests in Northeast Ohio!

Enjoy A Fall-Themed Beverage

Whether you enjoy a nice pumpkin spice latte or a traditional flavored coffee, Northeast Ohio has a wide variety of options available in the greater Cleveland area. If you are a hard-core coffee addict, check out some of the spots below.

  • Phoenix Coffee has 6 locations across the Cleveland area. Locations in the Warehouse District, Ohio City, Cleveland Heights, Coventry, and a few downtown locations on East 9th and Hamilton Avenue. Their fall menu just dropped and features tasty beverages such as Golden Chai Latte and Fall Spice Latte, and they even have Ohio Apple Cider in their cafes.
  • Brewellas is another fun seasonal coffee shop worth visiting; they are located in Lakewood on Madison Avenue. They have a terrific selection of seasonal treats; they offer a “Jack O’Latte”  that is flavored with Pumpkin Spice and Steamed Milk. They also offer an “Iced Jack O’Lati.” which is ½ cold brew and ½ milk.” with some Pumpkin Syrup for that extra fall touch.
  • Milk + Honey is a great coffee shop if you are looking for a particularly sweet beverage; they are located in downtown Cleveland on Superior. They have many options; their Cinnamon Toast Latte is one of their featured beverages right now and has Crumbled Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal with Vanilla syrup, 2 shots of espresso and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal on top. Your choice of base: 2%, Skim, Oat Milk, Almond Milk, or Coconut Milk.

All these coffee shops are located in beautiful parts of Northeast Ohio, so after you grab your coffee go for a stroll and enjoy some of the fall colors and energy within these neighborhoods

Visit The Haunted Franklin Castle In Cleveland

No fall season is complete without partaking in spooky, fun-filled adventures, and Franklin Castle in Cleveland checks all those boxes. Located on Franklin Boulevard in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood, the castle, also known as Tiedemann House, was built by a German Immigrant, Hanes Tiedemann. The house was built on Franklin Boulevard hence the name of what used to be known as one of Cleveland’s riches neighborhoods. The house not only served as a residence for Hanes and his family but also as a temporary place for family, friends, and others emigrating from Germany. The house switched hands and served multiple purposes, even briefly serving as the center for German Culture in the Cleveland area. Around the time the house was sold in 1968, rumors began to circulate around the west side of Cleveland that the house was haunted by 19th-century ghosts of Mrs.Tiedmann and her daughter Emma who died even before the house was built. In the mid-1970s, house tours began taking place in the haunted Franklin Castle. This is a fun fall activity to help get you in the Halloween spirit, and you can even stop at one of Ohio City’s great coffee shops, such as Rising Star Coffee, as you make your way through the tour!
